WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:

A hearty welcome and raised boat drink to our newest members, Ivan & Rhonda Leith and Scott Watkins.  Ivan & Rhonda hail from Troutdale Oregon and they enjoy sailing, beer brewing and kayaking.  Scott lives in Arlington, is a Realtor and tracked PHoPS down on the world wide web!  We are delighted to have all three of you in the club and hope to see you all soon as a club phunction!

PHINS UP:

 

Old Dog Haven Benefit – A huge PHoPS thank you to everyone (Alicia, Brenda, Annie, Debbie, Dave, Margene, Elaine, Mike, Laura, Carin, Tina, Curtis, etc) who worked so hard to make Saturday’s Hugo Show at Oddfellows such a success for the charity Old Dog Haven.  $1600 was donated along with the supplies that were collected.  Alicia Smith had the best line “old dogs raising money for old dogs” Parrot Heads are awesome people and this event just simply proves it! 

 

Laid Back Attack Entertainment Lineup Announced:  Please join us in welcoming Sam Rainwater, Gary Seiler and Dave Calhoun.  LBA VIII is scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2010.

Phins To The West Basket – We are putting together a basket for the auction at Phins to the West.  The theme will be Pacific Northwest, so put your best foot forward and be thinking of items that represent the great pacific northwest.  Patti McClements will collect basket items and make sure that the basket gets to Laughlin.  Contact Patti at communications@phops.com

 

Help Find a cure for MS – Club Member Deanna Wentz Shain is signed up to participate in the Walk MS event on April 11, 2010 and would like to ask for your support and contributions to meet her fundraising goal for this worthwhile charity.  Deanna was diagnosed with MS last March.  To contribute or for more information on joining Deanna’s team, contact her at dswentz@yahoo.com

 

OUR NEWSLETTER:  Have you checked out the Cascade ConchGeorge Margetan has taken on the challenge of producing a new monthly on-line newsletter for the Parrot Heads of Puget Sound and is doing a phabulous job.  Deadline for submission is the 22nd of the month for publication on the 2nd of the next month.  If you have not checked it out yet, please do so by visiting http://www.box.net/shared/1sgd8j8ms9 to submit ideas for the March 2nd issue, please contact George at thegreatgeorge@yahoo.com  The Cascade Conch is also available through our website at phops.com

FIRST 2010 BUSINESS MEETING – February 28, 2010 11:30 a.m.

 

This will be the first of two business meetings for our club during 2010.  It’s vital that everyone attend so that you can all weigh in on things that are important to you.  We will be announcing our 2010 officers, the 2009 Parrot Head of the Year, revising our club by-laws and many other important club issues will be discussed.  Bahama Breeze Southcenter meeting begins promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Migration Returns in 2010 in Southern California August 27 & 28, 2010

LAST BUT NEVER LEAST:  Ad rates as of January 1, 2010 – $1 per week, ads may run for one week $1, four weeks $4, half yearly $26 and full year $52 – All money raised through ad sales will be donated to charity.

 

What is considered advertising?  If you are going to directly make money,  through what you want to put in HDN, it is considered to be advertising:  Promoting books, CD’s, or your services for example.  Other examples include, selling cosmetics, real estate, roofing supplies, a litter of puppies, or your boat/car/vacation home.  If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask!  communications@phops.com
