Sail On

Our memorial page dedicated to our local Parrot Heads of Puget Sound club members who are no longer with us . . .

Patricia Peat joined the club in 2001 and passed away in 2015.  Patricia was a kind and beautiful person and brought a sense of style to everything she did.  She had an amazing flower garden where she hosted many house concerts. Her daughter, Wendy, continues to be active in the club and is one of the original PHoPS members.

Jim Johnston joined the club in 2003 and passed away in 2015.  He was an enthusiastic participant in every PHoPS charity activity or event he attended.  His storytelling made the work fun and the time go fast.  Jim actually met Jimmy Buffett before he became famous!  He was also very involved with the local unlimited vintage hydroplane boats and contributed his skills as a senior electrical designer to several boats. Jim loved the boats and thoroughly enjoyed this hobby.  His wife, Karen, and daughter, Anne, are still active in the club.

Russ Chase joined the club in 1997 and passed away in 2006.  He was one of the club members who founded our annual Laid Back Attack music event, now in it’s 16th year!  When Russ walked into a room a party broke out.  He was always smiling and looking for ways to make the club bigger and better.  Russ started our weekly email newsletter and coined the phrase “it’s YOUR club, jump in it’s fun!”

Jeff Cackler joined PHoPS in 2003 and passed away in 2007. He and his wife founded Parrot Heads of Eastern Washington to promote the parrot head life in their home town. Living so far from Seattle limited their participation in PHoPS activities but they always attended the annual Tin Cup Chalice golf tournament and our three-day musical event, Laid Back Attack. The Cacklers went on several parrot head cruises and some of Jeff’s ashes were scattered in Megan’s Bay on St. Thomas.
